Buenos días!

Nestled within the secluded beach community of Punta Mita, located just 40 minutes from Puerto Vallarta, this resort is the definition of Mexican luxury.

The St. Regis is a resort like no other.  Driving through the gated community, surrounded by private homes, the Four Seasons resort and golf courses, we officially arrived in paradise.  We were greeted with two mouth watering margaritas followed by a personalized check in service that overlooked the most breathtaking infinity pool – Ah, does life get any better than this?

As soon as we stepped into our room, we were greeted by our personal butlers, Juan and Jose.  We were extremely fortunate for these two guys as they looked after all our dinner reservations (incredible dining recommendations)! I do not know about you guys but coffee is a must and growing up we not only had a 10 o’clock rule for anyone phoning our house, but my mom would always joke (not really) and say “do not talk to me until I have had my coffee”…Fast forward ten years and I have become my mother!  The butler service included complimentary tea or coffee at any time of the day and brought us a fresh craft of coffee every morning, along with the morning newspaper.

In terms of accommodations and service, the St. Regis, Punta Mita truly outdid themselves  – the service was impeccable.  Every detail was sought out and every time we thought to ourselves, “it cannot possibly get better than this”…it did.

California Dreamin’

California is just one of those destinations that you can never get enough of. I suppose my love for California all started when The OC came out. I remember having my popcorn in hand weekly mesmerized by these California teenagers living what seemed to be the California dream.

Little did I know that with this vacation, I would be living my own California dream. We had the pleasure of staying at The Fairmont Del Mar and oh my, what a pleasure it was!
Secluded in the hills of Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve, this Mediterranean inspired design was a true artifact.

Whether you are looking for a day at the beach, a hike through the trails, or a visit with Mickey Mouse there is something for everyone, that is one magical thing that this state represents. California, you will always play a special part in my heart and a huge thank you to the Fairmont Del Mar for making our fifth year anniversary a memorable one!

Until next time xo

Junior Jays

Well it is Junior Jays Saturdays here in our household and we have our little one cheering on for our Toronto Blue Jays! It has been two years now since we made the move to Vancouver but Toronto still holds a special place in our hearts, especially when it comes to baseball. There may be no peanuts or cracker jacks but having this little one decked out in Jays gear always puts a big smile on our face!

Out of Office.

Everyone loves them and only a few wear them, they are both chic and functional and you have the option to dress them up or dress them down!

I am swooning over the oversized floppy hats that are out this season! These chic summer toppers are the ultimate summer accessory with an added bonus of no longer having to worry about exposing yourself to harmful UV rays.

I love the idea of supporting local companies and purchased this customizable beauty from Etsy on Chic and Trendy Designs.

I have my latte in hand and currently pinning my little heart away this morning, trying to get inspired for the day! I have always been more of a visual person – throwing it back to my high school days, flipping through Teen Vogue, InStyle, and Style at Home trying to take in all the latest styles and trends and yes, an endless amount of cutting and pasting but hey, that was part of the fun! Of course, with the introduction of the internet came the wonderful world of Pinterest. An endless amount of inspiration and with a click of a button, being able to filter through whatever your little heart desires. I cannot believe how many incredible people, ideas and talent is out there. Come follow me on Pinterest! I would love to see what you’re pinning too

bippity-boppity-boo!

Crisp mornings and early sunsets can only mean one thing – Fall is officially here!

Although it can be depressing folding away those summer dresses and polka dot bikinis, it is also that time of year that lululemons can be worn guilt free (most of the time) with over sized sweaters and riding boots! Of course, it is also that time where #psl (for those of you who are not familiar…pumpkin spiced lattes), apple picking, pumpkin patches and wagon rides are in season!

I am a huge fan of decorating accordingly to season within the household and what better way to do so for autumn than to stock up on some pumpkins! Now, for someone who is tremendously terrified of knives, carving pumpkins just seemed to be out of the question. This year I teamed up Michaels and came across Martha Stewart Crafts Metallic & Pearl Acrylic Craft Paint which was a breeze to use! I used Antique Silk for the base of the pumpkin & Champagne for the stem. This paint covers in a thick and even layer and will give you complete coverage within two thin coats! And of course, a spoon-full of glitter makes the pumpkins shimmer!

I have seen so many incredible Pumpkin DIY’s this year! What are your favorites?

Lets Start Fresh!

There is something about that sweet summer sunshine that makes everything look and feel better.  Since making my move out to Vancouver, I have been trying to discover and explore as many things as possible.   Of course with it being summer (in Vancouver), you have to take full advantage of those sunny days because as I have heard from time to time, it does not last long before those rain clouds come rolling in… For those of you who have been following, I do apologize as I have been MIA in the blogging world. With that being said, I think it would be appropriate to start FRESH – and what better way to do so then by letting you guys in on my new laundry obsession!

For those of you who know me, know that I am borderline OCD. Growing up, I would call myself Cinderella and would embarrass my mom to others making it seem that all this poor little girl did was Windex mirrors and vacuum (sorry mom, I love you!).  Fast-forward 20 years and let me tell ya, some things never change! I vacuum and wash my floors daily and I can guarantee you that my laundry basket is ALWAYS empty.

…..Drum roll please. Downy Unstopables – a true life-changer.  Now, I know you guys are probably thinking ‘this girl is nuts!’ but in all serious-ness, one of the best purchases, ever.  This magical bottle comes in six different scents with ‘fresh’ being my ultimate favorite!

Abu-Dhabi-Doo!

Dubai. Any thoughts? I know what a lot of you are thinking… Sex and the City 2, the desert, the high life of the rich and famous and one of the most recognized buildings in the world, yes, that looks like a sail boat, the Burj Al Arab. I had traveled to Dubai about ten years ago and of course at that time, your typical ‘high school girl’ was much more interested in and focused on what was going on with the drama back home and the confusion as to why MySpace was restricted in the UAE, talk about first world problems, am I right? I think its safe to say that I have grown up quite a bit since then and am feeling very grateful that I was able to make a trip back to Dubai!

We live in a day where oftentimes the media paints a distasteful divide between the West and the Middle East. Prior to this trip, many conversations consisted of people saying “Why Dubai?” “Please be careful” and worst of all, ”Don’t end up in jail”. Over time, some of these comments had me feeling apprehensive of both the fear and curiosity of the unknown. What did they mean by “Don’t end up in jail?”

So many conversations, a little confusion but most importantly, getting to truly experience that unknown. Five ladies, ten suitcases and we are more than ready for takeoff!

I have listed some of my ultimate highlights of must-sees and dos!

Madinat Jumeirah

Madinat Jumeriah, which means city of Jumeriah, is a stunning little area which resembles a contemporary Arab village. Along the strip you will find luxury hotels, fine dining and some of the most breathtaking views of the Burj Al Arab from various lookout points.

Mall of Emirates/Mall of Dubai

One word, INSANE. Growing up in a family where we consider shopping part of our daily cardio, I think if we ever made the move to Dubai we would be in the best shape of our lives! These malls are incredibly large (I am talking about 1,000+ stores large). The design and architecture that were put into these malls are completely mind blowing. The Aquarium and Underwater Zoo in the Dubai Mall is a 10 million-liter tank filled with all sorts of beautiful fish, sharks, stingrays and stunning artificial coral. I highly recommend checking this out!

Safari and Camel ride

The Desert Safari and Camel Ride is a must. We were extremely fortunate to have had the most incredible tour guide named Dauhd. We booked our tour through a company called Desert Safari Adventures. They picked us up at our resort and we drove straight into the Desert where we began our unforgettable ‘Dune Bashing’ adventure. For those of you who have sensitive stomachs this may not be the best idea for you, however this was an experience that I will never forget! The safari ended with a camel ride through the desert and a traditional dinner under the stars with a belly dancing performance.

Helicopter ride

This was by far one of my favorite things we did. This 15 minute Helicopter Tour soared above The Atlantis Resort, Islands of the World, The Palm Jumeirah The Arabian Gulf Coastline and other landmarks. All five of us were completely speechless once we landed and would have loved to gone on a second flight!

Captivated by the history and culture of Dubai, I feel like I discovered a whole new world and just like any country you are expected to follow and respect certain customs within. I feel so grateful that I was able to see this beautiful city once again and of course seeing and spending time with family. Beautiful city. Beautiful people. Beautiful memories.

o n s i t e.

Family has always been one of the most important things to me. I have been fortunate enough to have been brought up in an extremely family oriented environment. One of the most memorable things that have always stuck with me has been celebrating holidays at my aunt and uncles house in Caledon, Ontario.

Almost every few years they are living in a new house! I suppose in terms of sentimental value on their end they seem to be okay with packing up their things and moving into a new space (unlike myself, where tears streamed down my face when I had to leave home). I flew down for the weekend from Vancouver for a little getaway and I am currently still swooning over the progress of this beautiful house-to-be.

I am so impressed with all the talent and hard work my uncle puts into these homes, and I do hope that one day I can proudly say that he built a beauty of a home like this for my family.

L O V E .

I wanted to welcome you into my home and share with you some of my favorite Valentine’s Day finds for this year!

Let’s start off by saying how much I am LOVING Indigo’s home decor section this year.  They have the most perfect little pick me up accessories that just add an extra pop of color/design to your home.

I am a strong lover of snail mail (always have been, always will be) and with having my friends and family members away from home this year, I have a valid reason to send more cards than ever before!  Homesense has had an incredible selection this year with cards and I just could not resist picking these little guys up!

& of course with putting in a lot of time and effort with cards may come a grumbling little belly!   I mean, a girl needs a little snack once in a while am I not right? & these XO sugar cookies had my heart skipping a few extra beats!

Happy Valentine’s Day my lovelies, I hope it’s full of lots of love and goodies

Nikolina xo
